Honey has excellent moisturising, anti-bacterial & antioxidant properties.
- Extremely useful in skin care, especially for dry or acne prone skin - a quick & effective face scrub; mix 1 tablespoon honey to 1 tablespoon oatmeal mixed with a little lemon juice or even better yoghurt. Massage onto face leave on for a few mins then rinse off with warm water. Pat skin dry
- If you have dry/and or coarse hair adding a small amount of honey to your conditioner will help seal more moisture in your hair.
2 tablespoons of glycerin
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive oil
mix well and leave it in hair for at least 30 mins, its best to use a plastic shower cap or even a carrier bag to cover hair - this will create heat on your head & also to prevent the oil or honey running down.
- Another use for hair - when using Henna its useful to add a little honey. You do have to use something acidic to get the Lawsome dye release from the henna - typically lemon juice but Apple cider vinegar or Green tea is just as effective as some people can find lemon juice a little drying on the hair (I use Green Tea).
- Most people know to use honey for a sore throat or cough - hence the antibacterial properties. Its also useful to take honey in a little warm water for mild stomach upsets, also taking this early in the day is a useful boost to the whole digestinal tract.
- Apparently it was used many years ago directly on cuts to the skin, I've yet to try this myself.
